As a Weapons Engineer (Weapons Handling), you’ll step away from front line duties and into a role where you’ll shape the next generation of Royal Navy personnel.

Drawing on your specialist understanding of Astute Class submarine weapon systems, you’ll coach, guide and assess learners across a range of Weapons Electrical and Weapons Handling disciplines, while contributing your subject matter expertise to course development, technical change activity and wider Marine Training initiatives. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact while advancing your own career, this could be the ideal next step.

Day-to-day

you’ll be
  • Delivering classroom and simulator-based training, primarily focused on Astute Class submarines
  • Providing subject matter expertise to support training design and review
  • Supporting governance through reporting, documentation, and assurance
  • Liaising with stakeholders and acting as a technical point of contact for training queries
  • Maintaining safe systems of work and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies

The role is based onsite at HMNB Clyde, with set working times:
Monday to Thursday (08:00–16:30) and Friday (08:00–13:00), totaling 37 hours per week.

Essential experience
  • Sound knowledge of submarine Tactical Weapons Engineering systems
  • Experience in Weapons Handling operations
Qualifications
  • Qualified Weapons System Board – Competent User Level 3 (CU3) certification
