The roleAs a Senior Specialist Mechanical, you’ll lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for maintaining and deploying critical mechanical systems that support the Royal Navy’s submarine capability. This is a role where your expertise will directly contribute to national security and operational excellence, while offering you the chance to grow your leadership skills and technical knowledge in a dynamic environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Leading and managing a diverse team of engineers to deliver operational capability.
- Driving the implementation of safety, quality, and environmental policies.
- Ensuring risk assessments are completed and safe working practices are maintained.
- Overseeing the deployment and maintenance of high‑pressure air, hyperbaric, and diving systems.
- Maintaining accurate records of team activities, including overtime and absences.
This is a full‑time role (36 hours per week, Monday–Thursday (07:15–16:45)), and is based onsite at Faslane.
Essential experience of the Senior Specialist Mechanical- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Knowledge of high‑pressure air systems.
- Experience with hyperbaric and diving systems.
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
- HNC in Engineering or equivalent.
- Nuclear Submarine Quality Assurance Course.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
