Design dashboards that shine! Westaff is looking for a Dashboard Developer for a state office in Helena, MT!

Term: Temporary, 6 months

Schedule: Full-Time

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Pay: $35/hour

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards that communicate public health data clearly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into BI solutions.
  • Build and maintain data models using Power Query, DAX, and best‑practice modeling techniques.
  • Optimize dashboard performance through efficient queries, transformations, and model tuning.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all reports and visualizations.
  • User guides and dashboard walkthroughs
  • Handover notes for future developers or business teams
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for all BI assets developed during the assignment.
  • Support data governance practices by following naming conventions, version control, and security standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve BI issues related to data refreshes, access, or performance.
  • Produce comprehensive written documentation including:
    • Data model diagrams
    • DAX logic explanations
    • Data source mappings
    • Refresh schedules

Assignments must be complete and delivered within 6 months of hiring date.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Expertise in Power BI including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling required.
  • Strong SQL proficiency for querying and transforming data required.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts such as star schemas and ETL pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data visualization best practices and UX principles including accessibility compliance.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, structured documentation.
  • Ability to collect requirements from product owner, work iteratively, present, receive, and adjust based on feedback.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical BI solutions.
