Shodair Children’s Hospital is seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to provide direct care and support to children and adolescents receiving behavioral health services on our evening shift. This role is an essential part of our multidisciplinary team, helping patients navigate daily routines, build life skills, and develop healthy emotional expression under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.

• Must be able to perform physical holds, movements, and carries.
• Blocking and redirecting patient movements against the patient’s weight.
• Physical interventions in response to aggressive and self‑injurious behavior.
• Move quickly and confidently to intervene when protective holds and/or movements are necessary.
• Be physically capable of pivoting, knee squats, shuffling front and back, assisting with carrying a person, assisting a person to the floor, and stabilizing people in standing, seated, prone and supine positions.

This position starts at after completion of training.

• Four 9‑hour shifts per week – templates available.
• Rotating holidays and weekends.
• 2pm‑11pm shift.

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, special education, or a related field; or four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also considered.
• Experience working with children or in a behavioral health or healthcare setting is strongly preferred.

• Must obtain and maintain CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills within two (2) months of hire.
• Additional certifications (e.g., Serv Safe, Lifeguard, high ropes) may be required based on unit assignment.
• Certification in Behavioral Health is strongly preferred.
