Medical Staff Specialist – Medical Staff Services

Position Overview:
The Medical Staff Specialist supports all functions of Medical Staff Services, working independently and in collaboration with leadership to manage credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance processes. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining accurate provider records and supporting medical staff operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging with a contracted credentialing firm in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws
Maintain complete and accurate credentialing files and provider databases
Validate licensure, demographics, and credentialing documentation
Coordinate proctoring, focused and continuous professional practice evaluations
Prepare appointment, reappointment, privileging, and advancement correspondence
Ensure provider privileges and scope of practice are accurately reflected in credentialing systems and EHR
Support Medical Staff meetings, including agendas, minutes, calendars, and logistics
Maintain regulatory compliance with CMS, DNV-GL, and state/federal requirements
Assist with accreditation surveys and delegated credentialing audits
Support implementation and maintenance of credentialing software and provider support programs
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required (equivalent experience may be considered)
Three years of hospital experience preferred
Credentialing experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with CMS and DNV-GL standards preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Adobe Acrobat preferred
Certifications:
NAMSS CPCS and/or CPMSM certification preferred
Ability to obtain certification within five years if not currently certified
