Join Montana’s insurance rates team and turn classroom knowledge into real world regulatory impact. Gain hands on experience with data analytics, statistical modeling, and actuarial review while supporting consumer protection efforts.
Position Overview- Paid internship with the State of Montana’s Insurance rates regulatory team.
- Support data management and analytical projects that modernize Montana’s Insurance regulatory capabilities.
- Work with real insurance data, statistical models, and homeowner datasets to inform policy decisions.
- Hands on experience in data management, statistical analysis, and insurance regulation in a supportive, mentoring environment.
- Participate in legislative studies, including the NAIC Homeowners Data Call and analysis of Montana Market trends.
- Prepare data summaries, visualizations, and reports for regulatory decision making with guidance from senior staff.
- Help automate data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency.
- Students in mathematics, statistics, data science, actuarial science, or related fields.
- Comfortable with quantitative analysis and basic statistical concepts.
- Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, programming languages like R or python) and data visualization tools preferred.
- Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and willingness to learn complex insurance concepts.
