Position Overview- Paid internship with the State of Montana’s Insurance rates regulatory team.
- Support data management and analytical projects that modernize Montana’s insurance regulatory capabilities.
- Work with real insurance data, statistical models, and homeowner datasets to inform policy decisions.
- Gain hands‑on experience in data management, statistical analysis, and insurance regulation in a supportive, mentoring environment.
- Participate in legislative studies, including the NAIC Homeowners Data Call and analysis of Montana market trends.
- Prepare data summaries, visualizations, and reports for regulatory decision making with guidance from senior staff.
- Help automate data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency.
- Students in mathematics, statistics, data science, actuarial science, or related fields.
- Comfortable with quantitative analysis and basic statistical concepts.
- Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, programming languages like R or Python) and data visualization tools preferred.
- Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and willingness to learn complex insurance concepts.
