The Montana State Auditor, Commissioner of Securities and Insurance (CSI), offers a part‑time Data and Actuarial Analyst Internship in a small agency that values unity, effective working relationships, and mutual respect. • Paid internship with the State of Montana’s Insurance rates regulatory team.
• Support data management and analytical projects that modernize Montana’s insurance regulatory capabilities.
• Work with real insurance data, statistical models, and homeowner datasets to inform policy decisions.
• Gain hands‑on experience in data management, statistical analysis, and insurance regulation in a supportive, mentoring environment.

• Participate in legislative studies, including the NAIC Homeowners Data Call and analysis of Montana market trends.
• Prepare data summaries, visualizations, and reports for regulatory decision making with guidance from senior staff.
• Help automate data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency.

• Students in mathematics, statistics, data science, actuarial science, or related fields.
• Comfortable with quantitative analysis and basic statistical concepts.
• Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, programming languages like R or Python) and data visualization tools preferred.
• Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and willingness to learn complex insurance concepts.
