Civil Project Engineer

A small, well‑established engineering consulting firm in Helena, MT is seeking a driven and experienced Civil Project Engineer to join their team and take an active role in the design and delivery of infrastructure projects throughout Montana. • Support and lead design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, treatment components, and site/utility improvements.
• Produce detailed engineering plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, utilities, stormwater, site layouts).
• Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports. Perform engineering calculations, feasibility assessments, and site evaluations.
• Conduct field visits to monitor construction progress and project conditions.
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and local partners.
• Assist with permitting, funding support, and project documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 4+ years of hands‑on experience in site development or municipal civil engineering projects
• Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Prior experience in a construction management or project engineer/manager role for civil or heavy‑civil projects
• Working knowledge of construction estimating, contract administration, and reviewing of technical plans or drawings
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and attention to detail, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a small‑team environment
