Overview
At GSK, we have bold ambitions for patients, aiming to positively impact the health of 2.5 billion people by the end of the decade. Our R&D focuses on discovering and delivering vaccines and medicines, combining our understanding of the immune system with cutting-edge technology to transform people’s lives. GSK fosters a culture ambitious for patients, accountable for impact, and committed to doing the right thing, making sure that we focus our efforts on accelerating significant assets that meet patients’ needs and have the highest probability of success.
We’re uniting science, technology, and talent to get ahead of disease together.
Scope
We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist specialising in Single-Cell RNA, TCR data analysis, and experience in deep learning, structural biology, and immunology. This role will be a key contributor alongside a team of talented computational biologists and experimental scientists in the Oncology Translational Research Department. The Scientist will be responsible for combining single-cell TCR sequencing analysis with advanced machine learning approaches to predict TCR:peptide-MHC interactions, characterise tumor-reactive T cell repertoires, and develop predictive biomarkers for therapy response in precision immunotherapy programs.
Responsibilities- Lead comprehensive analysis of single-cell RNA-seq with paired TCR sequencing including clonotype identification, repertoire diversity, and integration with transcriptional phenotypes; building and maintaining pipelines in Python.
- Work with deep learning architectures (transformers, graph neural networks, CNNs) for TCR:pMHC interaction prediction using sequence and structural features.
- Collaborate closely with the Oncology Translational Research team members, immunologists, and AI/ML engineers to translate TCR insights into clinical biomarkers.
- Develop predictive biomarker signatures correlating TCR features with clinical outcomes and support companion diagnostic development.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, or related field.
- Extensive experience in single-cell RNA-seq and TCR sequencing analysis (Seurat, Scanpy, sc Repertoire, Scirpy).
- Proficiency in Python with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or Tensor Flow).
- Strong statistical and machine learning skills including experience with transformer models and neural networks.
- Ability to communicate with team members from different backgrounds, as well as senior members of the research units.
- Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result-oriented attitude.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- 2+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience in single-cell TCR analysis and machine learning applications in biology.
- Experience with structural biology tools (Alpha Fold, molecular dynamics) and TCR:pMHC interaction prediction.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of publications and/or patents in relevant fields.
