- Work with a variety of tools/hand tools safely and properly, as well as utilize any/all appropriate safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure uniform is presentable and complete with valid badge.
- Review assigned paperwork to gather the correct tools and PPE, including picking up radio/battery, assigned preventative maintenance (PMs), work orders, and/or correctives.
- Be aware of environment; ensure to follow company and federally established policies and procedures.
- Inspect all curbside and ticket counter hardware, cladding, and belts on all three levels of assigned area.
- Conduct assigned PM tasks to report deficiencies.
- Handle E-Calls from BHS control center and ensure proper communication with updates.
- Properly write out all work orders and correctives with detailed information including time, work, and parts
- Report to assigned area and check all BHS belts, motors, power-turns, and carousels.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, which will include, but not limited to, cleaning of conveyor and surrounding areas, removal of debris from between conveyors. removal and replacement of conveyor cover for inspection and cleaning, and the recognition of potential issues through audial and visual inspection.
- Diagnose equipment failures under the guidance of senior staff.
- Make minor adjustments to ensure system functionality and reliability pertaining to both electrical and mechanical items.
- Clear and reset baggage handling system jams in a safe and efficient manner.
- Analyze a situation, and communicate effectively with Senior Techs and/or Supervisor Team
- Take temperature and speed readings of components and belting.
- Perform full replacement and adjustment of components, including but not limited to, bearings, motors, reducers, belts (replacement and repair), belts (tensioning and tracking), photoelectric cells, and push buttons.
- Perform general troubleshooting of electrical components (e.g., MCP's, local functional electrical switch boxes, VFD's, ATR's, belt shaft encoders, general wiring).
- Attend requested/required training, demonstrating a willingness to learn.
- Follow and comply with any company and/or federally established policies and procedures.
- Make sure to follow Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedure for Team Safety.
- Follow airport driving policies and speed limits.
- Clean up area and place all tools used in the proper location.
- Provide Supervisor with completed PMs, correctives, and/or SR work orders.
- Ensure paperwork has proper information of date, time, reference SR numbers, reference PM number, part number, part quantity, and asset locations.
- Safety and compliance training is required.
- Perform other reasonable ancillary duties to support the operation and our customer.
- High School Graduate or General Educational Development (GED).
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must be able to read and interpret repair manuals and basic mechanical schematics.
- Must have at least 2(+) years of mechanical work experience
- Must have at least 1(+) year of basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience.
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
- The use of ladders
- Use of steep industrial stairs
- Use of maneuvering narrow walkways and industrial catwalks
- Frequently lifting/moving items that may range in weight up-to 50 pounds, occasionally up-to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work safely in a variety of locations that may include moving equipment and electricity, as well as small spaces, high spaces, dirty spaces, and hot spaces.
