Sr. Accountant

Description

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

+ Minimum of three years of experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.

+ Professional certification (e.g., CPA) preferred but not required.

+ Prior supervisory or team leadership experience is beneficial.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems preferred.

+ Excellent organizational, time‑management, and documentation skills.

+ Strong critical‑thinking abilities, with experience in research, analysis, and problem‑solving.

+ Working knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger operations, and financial controls.

+ Ability to work effectively with internal staff, external partners, and vendors in a professional manner.

Primary Responsibilities

+ Provide timely and accurate financial reporting that supports informed decision‑making by leadership.

+ Complete month‑end closing activities, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliation.

+ Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements.

+ Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger balances, and reserve accounts on a monthly basis.

+ Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.

+ Review and prepare journal entries, intercompany activity, accruals, and other routine accounting adjustments.

+ Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.

+ Process monthly commission calculations.

+ Analyze financial results to identify operational weaknesses and recommend improvements.

+ Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring organized workflows, proper documentation, and timely processing.

+ Ensure accounting methods, procedures, and internal controls align with generally accepted accounting practices.

+ Maintain up‑to‑date balance sheet reconciliations.

+ Maintain accounting policies and procedures, and support process improvement efforts.

+ Provide cross‑functional backup within the Accounting team to support overall operations.

+ Assist leadership by taking on more supervisory‑level tasks that help reduce the Controller's original workload.
