Overview

Apply for the Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger role at Smith's Food & Drug Centers
. Provide outstanding customer service, maintain a safe and clean environment, and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Smith’s Food and Drug merged with The Kroger Company in 1998 and serves over 140 stores across Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bag grocery items at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while ensuring items are not damaged.
  • Follow best practices for bagging in reusable, plastic, or paper bags.
  • Assist customers by removing merchandise from the bottom of the cart for checkout.
  • Offer help to customers with loading bags into their cars.
  • Perform basic shelf conditioning and return merchandise to store shelves.
  • Inform customers of grocery specials and handle seasonal merchandise.
  • Clean spills, pick up trash inside the store and parking lot, and maintain cleanliness inside and outside the store.
  • Gather carts and return them to designated areas.
  • Assist with locating products, conducting price checks, and helping cashiers.
  • Follow safety programs, report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to management.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and report repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions and promoting company values.
  • Adhere to local, state, federal laws, and company policies.
  • Work in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict, maintain honesty and integrity, and follow directions.
  • Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
  • Customer Service skills.
  • Effective communication skills.

  • Retail experience is preferred but not necessary.
