The position involves creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, maintaining a safe and clean environment, assisting the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals, monitoring quality assurance standards, embracing the Customer 1st strategy, and demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products within the department and store
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with suggestions
• Recommend grocery items to customers to meet their needs and inform them of grocery specials
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify management
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate manager of needed repairs
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents
• Report all safety risks, issues and illegal activity as applicable
• Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
• Effective communication skills

• Any retail experience
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)
