The Hotel Bartender/Server is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service while creating a welcoming, polished, and engaging guest experience. This role requires a strong passion for mixology, outstanding customer service skills, and the ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced hotel environment. The Bartender ensures smooth daily bar operations by maintaining cleanliness, proper stocking, safety, and compliance with all service and sanitation standards.
Attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to anticipate guest needs are essential. As an ambassador of the Hotel 27 North brand, the Bartender contributes to a memorable and elevated guest experience through courteous service and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities- Beverage Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel standards, ensuring proper preparation, presentation, and portion control.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the menu, including specialty cocktails, seasonal offerings, and dietary considerations.
- Guest Experience & Service
- Greet guests warmly, take food and beverage orders, and deliver timely, attentive, and courteous service.
- Make personalized recommendations based on guest preferences and promote hotel offerings.
- Respond professionally to guest inquiries, concerns, or complaints, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Bar Operations & Inventory
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or ordering needs to Food & Beverage leadership.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, storing, and rotating bar supplies to minimize waste and control costs.
- Cash Handling & Compliance
- Accurately process cash, credit card payments, and tabs following hotel procedures.
- Verify guest identification to ensure legal compliance with alcohol service laws.
- Follow responsible alcohol service practices and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Cleanliness, Safety & Sanitation
- Maintain cleanliness of bar surfaces, glassware, utensils, and equipment.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and health regulations, including proper food handling and storage.
- Properly clean, operate, and maintain bar equipment; report any equipment issues promptly.
- Teamwork & Event Support
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with restaurant staff, kitchen, front desk, banquets, and housekeeping to ensure seamless service.
- Assist with event setup, service, and breakdown, maintaining professionalism and attention to guest needs during special events and peak periods.
- Pre- & Post-Shift Duties
- Complete pre-shift preparation, including bar setup and stocking.
- Perform post-shift duties such as cleaning, organizing, and restocking for the next service period.
- Professional Standards
- Comply with all company policies, including time and attendance, meal and rest breaks, uniform and grooming standards, and workplace conduct.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
- Previous bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or bar environment preferred.
- Proficiency in preparing both classic and advanced cocktails.
- Bar training or certification in mixology, hospitality, or customer service is a plus.
- Required to obtain and maintain Food Handler’s and Alcohol Handling certifications per local regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-focused mindset.
- Ability to multitask and perform efficiently under pressure.
- High attention to detail for order accuracy, cash handling, and cleanliness.
- Strong collaboration skills to support seamless service across departments.
Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced, high-energy hotel bar and restaurant environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 40 lbs. for extended periods.
- Capable of performing repetitive tasks such as mixing drinks, handling glassware, carrying trays, and cleaning service areas.
- Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures, noise levels, and conditions.
- Maintain focus, energy, and professionalism during peak service times and events.
Assist with special projects or perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support overall operations across the company’s portfolio of hotels and wineries. Adaptability, collaboration, and attention to detail are essential for success.
