Implement,interpretandenforceworkstandardsandprocedureswithintheunitthatareincompliancewithhospitalspolicies,governmentalregulationsandvariousregulatoryagencyrequirements.
Serveasarolemodelfornursingstaffbycomplyingwithestablishedpoliciesandprocedures.
Incorporatetotalqualitymanagementconceptsintounitoperations.
Develop,implement,monitorandenforcetheprinciplesofeffectivenursingcareontheunit.
Developeffectivecommunicationsbetweenunitpersonnel,physiciansandotherdepartmentstoassurecontinuity,coordinationandcollaborationindeliveringservices.
Providesdirectpatientcarewhenhigherlevelsofskillandjudgementarerequired.
Demonstratetheskillsandknowledgenecessarytoprovidecareappropriatetotheageofthepatientserved.
Relieve other Headnursemanagersand Nurse Supervisorsasrequired .Mayworkdifferentshiftsand/ordaysfororientation,trainingandevaluationofpersonnelintheunit.
Maintain up-to-dateknowledgeinthefieldsotheymayrecommendnewservices,productsandequipment.
Continueprofessionaldevelopmentbyattendingeducationprogramsdesignedfornursingleaders.
Interview,select,evaluate,disciplineandterminatepersonnelorrecommendingsuchactionasnecessary.
Assurethatemployeesreceiveorientationandrequiredin-servicetrainingandthattheymaintainrequiredlicensureorcertification.
Maintainpersonnelrecordsasrequired.
Developworkschedulesandassignunitpersonnelonthebasisofpatientneedsandappropriatenursingintervention.
Superviselaborrelationsactivitiesintheassignedarea.
Preparethedepartmentalbudget,routineandspecialreportsandvariousformsanddocumentsasrequired.
Attendorconductmeetingsasnecessary.
Adheretotheinfectioncontrolpoliciesandproceduresofthehospital.
Mayworkoffshifts,weekendsandholidays,beon-callandworkmorethanstandardhours.
Performotherrelateddutiesasassigned.
QualificationsGraduationfromanapprovedschoolofnursingandcurrentnon-limitedlicensureinstate required
BSNorMSN preferred
Minimumoffive(5) years'experienceanddemonstratedmanagementandclinicalskills required.
