Overview
Delivery & Install Driver – Position Profile. Responsible for an efficient and quality pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment in a safe manner. Installation and networking of gear may be necessary during overall delivery to the customer. The quality and professionalism in which the driver conducts themselves can have a direct impact on future customer purchase decisions. The driver may provide basic training on the device(s) being delivered.
Position requires all federal DOT requirements be met. Meet all Delivery Safety Standards.
- Ensures equipment is safely delivered to the correct location.
- Maintains log books in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
- Pre- and post-trip reviews; ensure that the vehicle is safe, clean to operate, and compliant with all DOT and state laws.
- Performs pick-up of product at the same time as delivery to minimize costs.
- Performs basic installs, such as setting up IP addresses, downloading print drivers, removing old drives when required, backing up and uploading the customer’s address book, and providing basic customer training on printing standalone and network devices.
- Participates in Safety Programs and pre-calls customers when applicable.
- Meets expected productivity levels and demonstrates good technical and customer relation skills.
- Identifies customer needs and determines appropriate action; refers calls to the appropriate party.
- Provides constructive feedback to service and process teams regarding networking and installation initiatives.
- Completes technical training on new equipment as required.
- Maintains professional appearance in driver uniform.
- Contacts Dispatch and/or service department if a technician is needed.
- Ensures equipment is configured to the Bill of Lading, traveler or other documentation provided and properly loaded/secured in the vehicle.
- Uses a mobile device to capture electronic customer signatures upon completion of scheduled transactions and ensures all paperwork is signed and properly processed as required.
- Loading/off-loading trucks may apply; helps train new Delivery Drivers on new products and proper loading where applicable.
- Follows all accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures; conducts cycle counts and inventory reconciliation when required.
- Meets productivity/quality standards relative to assigned job responsibility as outlined by manager; responsible for inventory value up to $1,000,000.
- Overnight stays may be required. Operation and use of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, stair climber, pallet jack) is required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Safe driving record and history.
- Online technical training focused on networking and installation.
- On-the-job training with field technicians at customer locations and/or at Transfer Center.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with company policy.
- Minimum two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.
- Pass a road test; valid and current medical card required.
- Be at least 20 years of age; properly licensed in the state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid commercial driver’s license if applicable per state.
- Ability to read maps and electronic GPS.
- Overnight stays may be required based on DOT regulations or peak periods.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to physically handle oversized and overweight equipment.
- Identify at-risk behaviors and have the ability to make quick corrections.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with smartphones and/or tablets with handheld electronic technology.
- Basic computer skills and adequate technical skills to install/network equipment.
- Methodical approach to resolving problems that could arise during the day.
- Good reading, math skills, and legible writing.
- May be required to be certified on operation and use of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, stair climber).
