Responsible for an efficient and quality pick‑up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment in a safe manner. Install and network gear may be necessary during overall delivery to the customer. The quality and professionalism in which the driver conducts himself can have a direct impact on future customer purchase decisions.
Responsibilities- Ensures equipment is safely delivered to the correct location.
- Maintains log books in accordance with DOT regulations (Electronic or manual).
- Responsible for pre and post trip reviews and ensures the vehicle is safe, clean and compliant with all DOT and state laws.
- Performs pick‑up of product at the same time as delivery, minimizing costs.
- Performs basic connected installations: setting up IP addresses, downloading print drivers, backing up customer address books, and providing basic customer training.
- Participates in Safety Programs, pre‑calls customers, and achieves expected productivity levels.
- Demonstrates good technical and customer‑relation skills, identifies customer needs, and refers calls when appropriate.
- Provides constructive feedback to service and process teams regarding networking and installation initiatives.
- Makes sure equipment is correctly configured, loaded, and secured; captures electronic customer signatures upon completion.
- Follows accident/incident reporting guidelines, performs cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and reports discrepancies.
- Handles loading and off‑loading of trucks, and helps train new delivery drivers on proper loading and new products.
- May perform other duties as assigned, including operation of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and stair climbers.
- Manages inventory value up to $1,000,000 and may be required to stay overnight per DOT regulations.
- Safe driving record and history.
- On‑line technical training focused on networking and installation; on‑the‑job training with field technicians.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle per FMCSR regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and current medical card.
- Minimum two years of medium‑duty truck driving experience.
- Pass a road test.
- At least 20 years of age, properly licensed in current state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver’s license per state requirements.
- Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS.
- Ready for overnight stays based on DOT regulations or peak periods.
- Physically handle oversized and overweight equipment.
- Identify at‑risk behaviors and make quick corrections.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with smartphones or tablets and handheld electronic technology.
- Basic computer skills and adequate reading, math, and writing abilities.
- Methodical approach to problem resolution.
- May be required to be certified in operation and use of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and stair climbers.
- Lifting, bending, squatting, and kneeling are required to service equipment at floor level.
- Physical effort is required for lifting equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and moving equipment up to 1,000 lbs.
- Exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners in office, warehouse, and van/truck environments.
- Frequent exposure to noise, variable lighting, and ventilation conditions.
- Ability to work independently and manage diverse assignments.
