Veterinary Assistant

Hayward Animal Clinic is currently looking to hire a Full‑time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience with rooming patients, drawing blood, radiology, assisting in surgeries, and proper animal handling & restraint
, and being a positive, inclusive and motivating team member.

• Salary: $24 - 28 per hour, depends on experience, education, licensure, and certifications.
• Schedule:
  
  Full‑time, four to five 8‑hour shifts, Monday – Friday. Saturday coverage is required. Closed on Sunday and all federal holidays. Flexible/Open Availability Required.

• 3+ years clinical experience as a veterinary assistant required.
• Certified Veterinary Assistant, or current veterinary technician student, preferred.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Passion for working with animals and their owners.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.
• Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories.
• Perform basic exam procedures.
• Skilled in venipuncture (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular).
• Able to perform digital radiology (X‑ray) including positioning.
• Comfortable with monitoring general anesthesia and surgical assisting.
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in‑house laboratory.
• Excellent client communication/education.
• Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members.
