Summary:
The Assistant Nurse Manager, Emergency and ICU is a classification covering the following areas:
Emergency and Intensive Care Unit. The ANM, Emergency and ICU provides assistant administrative direction with 24‑hour 7‑day a week responsibility. The incumbent is responsible for promoting quality patient care and nursing services on a continuous basis, combining knowledge, skills of leadership, performance/quality improvement, communication, operations and business. Performs related duties as required.
- Collaborates with Nursing, Quality Services, Medical Staff and other hospital departments to formulate corrective plans that correlate to the identified opportunities for improvement; coordinates annual Nursing QI Program review, revision, and approvals; coordinates various Nursing performance improvement reports and nursing quality reports in a timely manner; directs and facilitates progress with multidisciplinary performance improvement projects; directs development of nursing staff specific quality and peer review.
- Evaluates and analyzes statistical data to identify trends or opportunities for improvement utilizing appropriate statistical techniques.
- In conjunction with the Nursing and Quality leadership, nursing staff and others, ensures the hospital licensure and accreditation compliance.
- Interprets and implements The Joint Commission (TJC) and State and Federal regulations pertaining to Nursing Quality Improvement practices. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and established hospital standards, practices and procedures; coordinates plans of correction and monitoring when necessary; investigates, evaluates and recommends problem‑solving methodologies where outcomes would necessitate corrective actions.
- Interprets and implements The Joint Commission (TJC) and State and Federal regulations pertaining to Nursing Quality Improvement practices. - Recommends and develops, in collaboration with Nursing Leadership, indicators designed to evaluate specific aspects of medical quality assurance related to patient care services provided; champions and implements Patient Experience improvement tactics and activities.
- Responsible for preparation of staff schedules, making changes and adjustments as necessary; responsible for nursing coverage of the unit(s) on a daily basis; assumes responsibility for completion/accuracy of Kronos; demonstrates ability to select, train, motivate and develop nursing staff.

- Master's Degree in Nursing, health or business administration.
- Current RN license to practice in the State of California.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.
- BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
- Two to seven year's progressive management experience; in a leadership/management level position and in clinical/specialty area(s) preferred.
- Sexual Harassment/Bullying Prevention Certification required. (1 month from hire)
