Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for supervising the Quality Control function including all inspection activities. The Quality Engineer will provide services to manufacturing and other functional areas dealing with Quality Control while ensuring that safety and environmental policies and procedures are followed and maintained within organizational, federal, and state policies, laws, and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows quality procedures, prepares inspection schedules and reports of business transactions.
  • Communicate and coordinate daily shipping and inspection priorities.
  • Provide support to the quality department on all daily activities (inspection, packaging, and shipping).
  • Create and update programs on the Vertex inspection equipment to inspect product according to the customer’s specifications and drawings.
  • Review and verify that all shipping documentation (inspection data, material chemistry, and product labels) are meeting the customer’s requirements and industry standards,
  • Coordinate first article inspection with QC and production to ensure proper tool set up on new and current products.
  • Assist the Quality Manager to ensure compliance with AS9100 and other regulatory standards are met.
  • Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement programs,
  • Identify and support training needs for Quality Control staff.
  • Participate in Material Review Board by presenting quality issues, out of spec conditions, and visual findings for disposition.
  • Maintains record keeping as required by AS9100D.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma
  • 5 years related experience in quality engineering and supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough understanding of quality management systems
  • Working knowledge of measuring tools (hand tools, comparator, Vertex vision systems).
  • High attention to detail.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures.
  • Computer proficiency
  • Working knowledge of statistical techniques and tools.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers, and superiors in all departments of the Company.
  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company.
  • Must adhere to all Company policies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for the majority of an 8-hour workday.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs, as necessary.

Salary Range:
Salaried exempt $58,000 - $72,000 plus bonus potential 10%

Position is 100% onsite in Hayward, CA
