EHS Specialist (EHS & Security Program Specialist)
Location: Hayward, CA (on-site)

Role OverviewWe are seeking an EHS Specialist to support the EHS & Security Lead in implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving environmental health, safety, and physical security programs across manufacturing and office operations at 1X.
This role is hands-on and execution-focused. The EHS Specialist is responsible for inspections, documentation, training coordination, compliance tracking, and day-to-day program support. The position works closely with Manufacturing, Facilities, HR, and leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, incident prevention, and safe, secure operations.
You Will EHS Compliance & Programs- Support implementation of Cal/OSHA, OSHA, and internal safety programs
- Maintain Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and related documentation
- Assist with hazard assessments, JSAs, and risk evaluations
- Conduct routine safety inspections and walkthroughs
- Track corrective actions and follow up on closure
- Support chemical safety, Haz Com, SDS management, and labeling programs
- Assist with fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation planning
- Support battery safety, machine shop safety, and equipment safety programs
- Assist with incident, near-miss, and injury investigations
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action development
- Maintain incident records and regulatory logs
- Coordinate workers’ compensation and return-to-work documentation (as needed)
- Coordinate and track safety and security training
- Support onboarding safety orientation for employees and contractors
- Maintain training records and compliance status
- Assist in developing toolbox talks and safety communications
- Support access control, badge systems, and visitor management
- Assist with security guard oversight and vendor coordination
- Support camera system monitoring and documentation
- Assist with incident response and security reporting
- Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Maintain EHS and security records, permits, and certifications
- Support internal and external audits
- Prepare compliance reports and dashboards
- Track regulatory deadlines and inspection schedules
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in EHS, manufacturing safety, or operational compliance
- Working knowledge of OSHA / Cal/OSHA standards
- Experience with inspections, audits, and compliance documentation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
- ASP, CSP, CHST, or similar certification (or in progress)
- Experience with physical security systems (access control, CCTV, guard services)
- Experience in robotics, automation, electronics, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 / ISO 14001
- Experience supporting battery safety or electrical safety programs
