Job Summary
Superintendents are responsible for simultaneously managing the production of multiple construction (repair) projects that are generally outsourced to subcontractors. This position is responsible for collaborating with subcontractors in determining scope of work and price negotiations. This position reports directly to the Branch Manager or Regional Operations Manager and interfaces regularly with other departments as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with adjusters, customers, co‑workers and contractors – articulating scope of work, expectations, timelines.
- Assist with negotiating pricing, confer, and obtain approval to proceed from Regional Operations Manager.
- Oversee work performed by subcontractors to ensure work performed as agreed to and to customer satisfaction.
- Develop means of tracking and monitoring subcontractor work; follow‑up regularly and update job records.
- Work with Regional Project Managers or Project Directors to develop budgets and schedules for repair projects.
- Gather, review, and submit all documents and work orders in order for the Project Director to prepare progress billings and final billing in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update job budgets and schedules.
- Schedule subcontractors to perform work on the jobs.
- Evaluate subcontractor performance, report deficiencies, and address corrective actions.
- Obtain permits through local agencies as necessary.
- Complete paperwork and client/subcontractor change orders for signature.
- Support the Company's safe workplace policies and practices and promotes adherence.
Experience / Requirements
- Experience in commercial construction performing supervisory or superintendent duties, specific to construction and/or restoration/mitigation loss.
- Hands‑on experience in defining projects budgets, including tracking/monitoring and reporting.
- Requires a Valid Driver's License, with driving record in good standing.
- Industry related certifications are a plus.
- Experience in developing and maintaining strong customer relations, building on company reputation.
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) at all levels.
- Possess excellent time management skills, can set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Computer experience in MS Outlook and other programs, can produce basic excel and word documents. (Xactimate is a plus)
Safety Requirements
- Regulatory Requirements: Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required PPE may include gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear. All employees must wear PPE as required for their specific roles and job site conditions.
- Physical Clearance: Successfully complete a pulmonary function test, including a respirator fit test, to ensure their ability to safely utilize the designated respirator selected for the role.
