Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within 4 months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200
-000) & eligibility period (1-5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
- The Robert J Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) that will be responsible for providing Primary Care services to Veterans of the Robert J Dole VAMC in Hays - KS. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Primary Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission.
- The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management.
- The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients.
- Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but not limited to:
Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. - Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
- Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Orders and interprets labs - tests - and diagnostic studies.
- Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
- Provides education to patients and their families.
- Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Part time position up to 3 days per week (Three 8 hours shifts = 24 hours). - Salary is pro-rated based on actual part-time hours worked.
