Job Overview

Provides diagnosis, treatment, and medication management in a behavioral health clinical setting to a specified population. Provides consultation for in-house patients for Heritage Health providers and, if needed, assumes responsibility for psychiatric care. Counsels and educates patients regarding treatment and refers to ancillary and support services.

Qualifications
  • Certified as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant in the State of Idaho, or qualified to receive certification as a PMHNP or PA in Idaho
  • State of Idaho RN licensure or eligibility for licensure, if applicable
  • For PA:
    Psychiatric CAQ preferred or willingness to obtain within 2 years of employment
  • BLS certification required
Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric care through diagnosis, clinical judgment, and medication management to restore and improve mental health status
  • Assess physical, emotional, and developmental status of individuals and families
  • Analyze health behavior related to personality, lifestyle, and culture
  • Prescribe treatment in accordance with nurse practitioner act
  • Offer counseling and client advocacy
  • Provide health education to clients, clinic staff, and community organizations
  • Assess environmental status of the community and its impact on health
  • Obtain patient histories and develop comprehensive care charts
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of patient care and support staff
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and community agencies to deliver comprehensive care
  • Maintain quality assessment and assurance systems in accordance with the quality assurance plan
  • Participate in program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation related to clinic functions
  • Maintain continuing education to meet licensure expectations
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences, and in‑service training
  • Engage in peer review and QA/QI activities
  • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned
  • Contribute to the Heritage Health Patient‑Centered Medical Home model as part of the PCMH Care Team
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior outpatient clinic environment. The role may be demanding and chaotic at times and may expose staff to patients with contagious diseases, physical injuries, and varying emotional states.
