General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as for the general operations and supervision of the store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the store, supervise associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Practice safe behaviors and maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
- Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Secure building entrance/exit, EAS devices, cash office, and register area.
- Remove clutter and keep emergency exits clear.
- Manage customer safety, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
- Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and enforce the dress code.
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards.
- Receive merchandise trucks and process all merchandise with urgency.
- Receive all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
- Help deliver merchandise to the sales floor.
- Secure and process any back‑stock.
- Manage merchandising of the department and back‑stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Comply with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Execute floor moves and promotional sign‑ups.
- Perform re‑wraps as needed.
- Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong customer‑service presence.
- Show integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Maintain the Public View Monitor system.
- Conduct "code" package inspections.
- Apply company best practices to maximize productivity.
- Ensure associates meet company standards at the front end.
- Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the front end.
- Train and coach associates on cash registers and shortage control.
- Control retail associates’ break schedule.
- Ensure all equipment works properly.
- Maintain proper supplies and recovery for the front end.
- Expedite go‑backs, ensure scanning, security tagging, and ticketing.
- Teach the "Scan and Bag" best practice.
- Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end.
- Maintain and clean fitting rooms.
- Audit and account for all fitting room garment tags.
- Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day.
