We are seeking multiple dedicated and highly skilled Mechanical Inspector Level 1 to join our team and support inspection at our client s facility in Hawthorne, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality inspection, particularly in the aerospace industry, with the ability to independently validate established criteria and conduct dimensional inspections without additional guidance. This is a 3+month Contract position in which you will be working full-time on first or second shift (5am - 3:30pm or 3pm - 1:30am).
Key Responsibilities- Conduct outer diameter visual inspection (10x magnification) for damage on tubes and hardware (B nuts, sleeves, etc.).
- Measure minor features using calipers and micrometers (training provided for using Gelsight to measure damage depth).
- Perform basic drawing interpretation (limited to hexes and notes, not dimensional details).
- Verify raw material using an XRF gun (training and safety instructions will be provided).
- Conduct visual inspection of threads, with minimal use of thread plug gauges.
- Perform potential inner diameter visual inspection using a borescope, making pass/fail decisions based on visual comparison to specification images.
- Conduct possible wipe test (using black light) for Class 2 clean verification.
- Measure potential putty dimensions using an optical comparator.
- Experience inspecting mechanical parts (client-specific training provided).
- Proficiency in verifying products against drawing requirements.
- Strong communication skills and technological proficiency.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- U.S. citizenship required due to ITAR regulations.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards.
- Prior experience with specialized inspection tools such as borescopes, optical comparators, and XRF guns.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
$25 - $28 an hour
Mileage Compensation (0.70 per mile driven)
