Maintenance Technician – Stock Yards

Location: Specialty Stock Yards – Hawthorne, CA

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

• Perform necessary repairs and maintenance on all production and facility equipment to ensure operation for day and night work.
• Review equipment reports submitted by associates; record actions/repairs and maintain repair log per USF policy.
• Complete all applicable documentation for equipment activities (assembly forms, disassembly forms, etc.).
• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on equipment and maintain PM log with proper documentation.
• Comply with all USF and government safety guidelines when working on equipment (lock‑out/tag‑out, placarding, required documentation).
• Maintain and secure the battery‑charging area, batteries, and other contained equipment.
• Responsible for company tools, replacement parts, and maintenance equipment; inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area.
• Purchase tools and other equipment from local vendors when authorized.

• Internal – Warehouse and production personnel, supervisory staff, operations support, maintenance, and sanitation personnel.
• External – Outside vendors.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred.
• Minimum six months of previous mechanic experience.
• Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able to repair and overhaul warehouse and production equipment.
• Welding ability; ability to read and write legibly.
• Ability to follow orders, basic mathematical skills, and work with little direct supervision.

Base rate: $30.00–$34.00 per hour, dependent on experience, education, skills, function, geographic location, and other factors. Eligible for overtime compensation.
