Location: Lanai City
Equipment Operator III (Landscape Construction)
Under limited supervision, the Equipment Operator III properly operates all equipment and hand tools. May assist with installation work of irrigation pipes and perform various landscape installation functions. Works with the Supervisor and is responsible for oral/written reports on activities assigned by Supervisor.

$27.43/hour (non-exempt)

Responsibilities
- Operate equipment such as front end loader, backhoe, excavator, telehandler, skid steer, and hand-operated trencher.
- Operate power tools such as weed whackers, power mowers, power chainsaws, etc.
- Perform pre‑start up maintenance (checking oil level, water, tire air pressure, etc.).
- Perform installation of landscaping material with limited supervision.
- Assist with installation of irrigation system components including valves, sprinkler heads, air relief valves, etc.
- Inform Supervisor of any work discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
- Submit oral or written reports to the Supervisor.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all phases of work under their jurisdiction.
- Follow all safety standards for landscaping construction operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of previous experience in landscape installation and landscape equipment operation.
- Friendly and professional manner in dealing with people.
- Follow established procedures and maintain reliable work attendance.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Make effective decisions quickly.
- Create effective working relationships with employees.
- Maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and successful Motor Vehicle Record review.

Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; occasionally stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close, distant and color vision. Occasionally required to operate objects, tools, or controls.
