Position: Theater Attendant (Casual)
Location: Lanai City

Job Description

Operates the box office selling movie tickets, show tickets, and gift cards to guests. Ensures outstanding guest service is provided to all guests. Answers the phone fielding questions about content, provides theater operational information, informs guests about prices and policies, etc. Enforces ratings to keep underage guests from accessing the theater without adult consent. Sells appetizing and properly prepared food and beverage items to guests.

Maintains the cleanliness of the concession area, theater lobbies & restrooms while controlling access to the theater.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an experience that is comfortable, distraction-free, and picture-perfect.
  • Control access to theater by greeting guests in a positive, upbeat manner as they arrive for each show.
  • Provide friendly, helpful, and fast guest service.
  • Pop the popcorn, pour drinks, and serve other specialty items.
  • Assemble food orders, operate point-of-sale terminals, and make accurate change.
  • Maintain cleanliness of entire concession stand; including cooking equipment, counters, shelves, glass display cases, condiment areas, preparation areas, and stock room.
  • Perform daily box office and concession maintenance duties.
  • Provide outstanding guest service to both guests and fellow employees.
  • Actively watch audience to ensure guests follow all theater rules, and address any violations with the guest(s).
  • Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and in good repair.
  • Enforce ratings to keep underage guests from accessing theater without adult consent.
  • Monitor theater picture/sound quality, temperature, lighting, and guest behavior.
  • Create a constant presence inside and outside theater to deter any disruptive conduct.
  • Assist with crowd control.
  • Clean lobbies, restrooms, theater, and all exterior and common areas of the theater.
  • Assist guests with any special needs that may arise.
  • Assist guests in any emergency situation.
  • Ensure the security of all box office cash and tickets.
  • Keep box office clean and well organized and update box office signage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be proficient in use of a computer/cash register.
  • Must have good math and cash-handling skills.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
  • Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
  • Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work varied shifts; including late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
  • Must be able to work in cool/hot environment.
