Job Title: Cashier/General Clerk – Front End

Starting rate of pay: $16.25/hr

Kailua location starting rate of pay: $17.00/hr

Position Summary: Provides customer service to our customers while operating the cash register to ring up various items in exchange for currency.

Job Duties:

• Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, by name if possible during transactions.
• Assists customers while ringing up/weighing items for purchase.
• Bags like groceries together, using the least number of bags.
• Checks for the bottom of the basket.
• Verifies/balances register till at the beginning and end of shift.
• Accepts/Verifies/Processes payment from customers in the form of cash, credit, debit, EBT, and check.
• Verifies/Processes WIC checks, purchase orders, merchandise certificates, and coupons.
• Checks identification for tobacco and liquor purchases, as well as payment by credit card and check by following established company procedures.
• Maintains register accuracy and carries out proper register procedures to meet company performance standards and price integrity.
• Refills bag wells in front end and keeps workstation clean and organized by dusting, wiping, and sweeping the area.
• Performs duties of a courtesy clerk.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by manager.

Capabilities:

• Stand for long periods of time.
• Carry up to 40 pounds; frequent motions of arms and hands to ring up and bag groceries.
• Push and pull up to seven shopping carts during retrieval.
• Use proper safety procedures.
• Able to listen to directions and follow through independently.
• Good communication and observation skills.

Job Skills:

• Previous experience working with the public.
• Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products.

Environment:

• Air-conditioned while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons/helping customers to their car, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill.
• Very fast-paced.

Must be 18 years of age to ring register per company policy.
