Position Summary
The ICU Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered critical care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. This role coordinates and delivers care for patients with complex medical, respiratory, and cardiac conditions requiring intensive monitoring and specialized treatment.
The ICU/CCU environment supports surgical recovery and critically ill patients, maintaining close nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver direct critical care nursing to ICU/CCU patients
• Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Manage ventilated patients and advanced cardiac/respiratory cases
• Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Provide after-hours PACU recovery support as needed
• Document care accurately using the electronic medical record
• Participate in orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education
• Float to other departments (OB, Med-Surg, PACU, ER) to assist within competency level
Unit Details
• Small ICU setting with close monitoring environment
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: approximately 1:2 depending on acuity
• Additional nursing support provided for high-acuity or ventilated patients
Schedule
• Must be available to work any shift (days, nights, rotating) — no exceptions
• 80 hours every two weeks required
• Rotating schedule including weekends and holidays
Orientation
• Hospital orientation followed by unit-based orientation
• Orientation includes day and night shift training with staff RN
• Completion of required competency binder
Requirements
• Active RN license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years ICU / critical care experience
• Experience with ventilators and high-acuity patients
• Emergency Room experience preferred
• Current certifications:
- BLS / BCLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications and hold the required certifications to be eligible for application.
