Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU – Intensive Care Unit for a 13‑week travel contract in Waimea, Hawaii. The role requires a minimum of two years of ICU/CCU experience, active Hawaii RN license, and the ability to float across multiple units including OB, MS, PACU, and ER.
Scope of Practice & Responsibilities- Serve a small 4‑bed/4‑room ICU/CCU unit within a hospital setting.
- Care for a diverse patient population spanning pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.
- Provide surgical and critical respiratory/cardiac care.
- Patient ratio 1:2 depending on acuity; a second nurse is called when required.
- Provide after‑hours PACU recovery coverage as needed.
- Float to OB, MS, PACU, and ER based on individual competency.
- Work a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule; must be open to any shift with no exceptions.
- 80‑hour, 2‑week pay period with no exceptions.
- Coordinate and deliver age‑appropriate individualized care to ICU/CCU patients.
- Complete a two‑day orientation covering HR onboarding, safety, risk and quality, in‑services, IT, and EMR training.
- Complete unit orientation with 1–2 day shifts and 1–2 night shifts alongside a staff RN.
- COVID‑19 vaccination is not required.
- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license.
- Minimum two years of ICU/CCU nursing experience.
- Current BLS/BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Emergency room experience is recommended.
- Willing and able to work any shift with no exceptions.
