Waialae Country Club is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead all financial operations and support the Club’s long‑term success. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, member billing, and investments, while also providing financial guidance to Department Heads, the General Manager/COO, Board of Directors and Committees. The Controller also oversees the Club’s IT operations.
Key Responsibilities- Leads all accounting and financial reporting, including monthly statements, year‑end reports, and audit coordination.
- Oversees budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management, and financial analysis for the Club and its committees.
- Manages internal controls, compliance programs, and internal audit processes.
- Directs member billing, collections, account maintenance, and membership certificate administration.
- Safeguards Club assets through effective cash management, insurance oversight, and risk‑management practices.
- Partners with the Director of HR to negotiate and administer employee benefit plans;
Oversees the Club’s 401(k) plan and related compliance. - Manages the Club’s investment program in collaboration with the Club’s investment advisors and Investment Committee. Serves as point of contact with the Club’s investment advisors.
- Supervises the Accounting team and ensures strong financial systems, data integrity, and IT coordination.
- Provides clear financial insights and reporting to the General Manager/COO, Board, and Committees.
- Supports long‑term financial planning and strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive financial experience, including at least 3 years leading an accounting team.
- Experience in private member owned clubs and/or non‑profit organizations strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with financial software and advanced Excel skills; experience with club‑management software (Northstar) a plus.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to Department Heads, the General Manager/COO, Committees and the Board of Directors.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality and a service‑oriented attitude.
$160,00-$190,000 plus bonus potential based on qualifications and experience.
