Director of Purchasing – 1 Hotels
Join our team as the Director of Purchasing for 1 Hotels, a brand that values sustainable and innovative hospitality.
Base Pay Range$/yr – $/yr
Responsibilities & Duties- Ensure purchasing practices align with 1 Hotels’ sustainable ethos and minimize environmental impact.
- Act as liaison between hotel departments and suppliers, placing orders and scheduling deliveries.
- Collaborate with Food & Beverage and Culinary teams to procure organic, local, and seasonal products, forecast needs, and manage deliveries.
- Determine food and beverage requirements for all catering menus and place orders accordingly.
- Monitor product quality and verify standards are met.
- Solicit vendor bids and secure best pricing.
- Coordinate with Avendra to maximize vendor usage.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to reduce waste and improve turnover.
- Lead regular inventory audits.
- Communicate frequently: daily rallies, department meetings, and hotel-wide assemblies.
- Stay abreast of market trends, introduce new products, and drive guest engagement and revenue.
- Identify performance opportunities, challenge processes, and promote innovative change.
- Build collaborative relationships and ensure direct reports do the same.
- Provide inspirational leadership to support 1 Hotels’ Vision, Mission, and Compass.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor talent to sustain a vibrant hotel culture.
- Offer coaching, feedback, and performance reviews for team members.
- Exercise strong interpersonal skills, advocacy, honesty, and integrity in leadership.
- Foster an engaging organizational culture that attracts top talent.
Reports to the Executive Director of Finance and oversees the purchasing team.
Qualifications & SkillsRequired
- Post‑secondary diploma or degree related to the profession, or 2 years of comparable experience.
- Experience with Birchstreet or a similar Purchasing Management System.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles and proven leadership in driving team engagement and financial results.
- Demonstrated success leading in a fast‑paced environment and prioritizing demands.
- Strong interpersonal and team‑building skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of Food & Beverage products and purchasing.
- Technical proficiency with purchasing, budgeting systems, and spreadsheets.
- Problem‑solving aptitude.
- Professional appearance and demeanor aligned with the 1 Hotels brand.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Great attention to detail.
- Flexibility to support a 24‑hour operation.
Preferred
- Experience designing and implementing a sustainable purchasing policy.
- Background in a luxury hotel, restaurant, or catering brand’s purchasing function.
- Understanding of hotel structure and departmental interactions.
