Hospital PACU Nurse | Keaau, Hawaii

Location: Keaau

Deliver expert nursing care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at a healthcare facility in Keaau, HI. This contract role is essential for caring for patients through pre-operative preparation, Phase I and II recovery, and ensuring patient safety and comfort after surgery. The ideal candidate demonstrates advanced knowledge in anesthesiology and critical care, with the ability to assess surgical incision sites and monitor vital signs meticulously.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of critical care RN experience (ER, ICU) in a hospital setting, acceptable as a substitute for PACU experience
• Current and valid Hawaii RN license required at start of assignment
• Valid American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential highly recommended
• Specialty certifications such as NIHSS & TNCC preferred
• Ability to think critically and respond promptly to patient needs
• Proof of flu vaccination or an approved medical/religious exception before start date

Responsibilities:

• Provide thorough care to post-surgical patients during recovery phases I and II
• Monitor patients' incision sites, body temperature, and other key indicators for stability or complications
• Utilize medical equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Bair PAWS Warmers, HP and Phillips monitors
• Participate in employee health clearance appointment the Thursday before starting
• Flexibility to work variable shifts (8, 10, or 12 hours) including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Accept on-call shifts up to 3 times per month as required

• Variable shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• On-call duties as assigned (8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage)
