SALARY RANGE: $27.06/hr + $15.47 shortage differential
JOB DUTIES: The Occupational Therapy (OT) program provides services to the acute-care and long-term care patients, treating patients individually or in groups with psychosocial and physical dysfunction. Implements and carries out medically prescribed activities which will assist in restoring physical function up to maximum level of competence, and psychosocial and constructive activities which will help the patient to adapt to the social demands of living.
This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION
:
Must have a baccalaureate degree in occupational therapy from a school of occupational therapy approved at the time of graduation by the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. in collaboration with the American Medical Association; or in the case of a foreign-trained person, the credentials indicating completion of an occupational therapy education program shall be evaluated and approved by the Certification Committee of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc.
Must have successfully completed the field work requirements prescribed by the degree awarding school.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience as an Occupational Therapist under medical supervision. The experience must have equipped the applicant with a full professional understanding of the theories, prevention, and treatment of disabilities by occupational therapy and their proper application by the use of activities which are appropriate to the patient’s physical and psychological condition and utilizing appropriate manual and other physical skills.
CERTIFICATION: Certification and Registration:
In accordance with Chapter 457G of the Hawaii Revised Statues (HRS), all applicants shall:
1) have passed the occupational therapist national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); and
2) be registered with the State of Hawaii as an Occupational Therapist (OT) at the time of appointment.

For certain positions, applicants may be required to possess a valid State of Hawaii driver’s license, Type 3.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily. Disabilities in these or other areas will not automatically result in disqualification.
