Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Puunene, Hawaii on a contract basis. In this role, you will oversee critical accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, integrity, and compliance with established policies and procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment while managing responsibilities essential to the organization's financial operations.

This is a hybrid role, with occasional interisland travel required to Maui. Preference will be given to Hawaii residents.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure costs and expenditures are accurately applied to the appropriate departments and locations.

- Oversee the classification of costs and ensure proper balance sheet presentation and expense amortization in line with company policies.

- Manage and actively participate in the period-end close processes while collaborating with other finance and accounting teams.

- Maintain compliance with accounting standards and support the annual audit process.

- Provide assistance with internal accounting tasks, including general ledger coding, purchase order reviews, and other areas requiring support.

- Prepare detailed explanations for Balance Sheet and Income Statement variances, along with quarterly and annual reporting as directed.

- Conduct account analysis and perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations to ensure adherence to accounting policies and standards.

- Handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a proactive approach to ambiguity and problem-solving.

- Deliver ad hoc financial analyses and contribute to special projects as assigned.

- Assist with ongoing process improvements and other duties as needed.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred; finance or other business-related degrees with relevant accounting experience considered.

- 4-8 years of detail-oriented experience in accounting, with a strong focus on general ledger management.

- In-depth understanding of GAAP and proven ability to handle complex financial issues requiring judgment and interpretation.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including handling large datasets; experience with Net Suite is a plus.

- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of management.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues as needed.

- Capacity to understand business needs and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
