Project Inspector; DOT Projects

We are in search of a Project Inspector on the Island of Kauai to join a Construction Management team that oversees numerous DOT projects on the Island of Kauai.

• Minimum High School diploma;
  Bachelor’s degree beneficial
• Minimum 5 - 10 years of inspection and/or construction experience preferred
• ICC, MTRB, and ACI certifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe)
• Knowledgeable in using standard mechanical and electrical instruments, gauges, and test rigs
• Understanding of building/project site systems and familiarity with relevant building codes and construction methods
• Proficient in reading, understanding, and interpreting plans and specifications
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills
• Knowledgeable in the use of computers, Microsoft Suites, iPads, and digital cameras
• Certifications and special inspection experience helpful
• Ability to perform basic math
• Good time management
• Strong problem‑solving and analysis skills
• Clear and concise oral and written communication
• Self‑starter with initiative, responsiveness, and strong follow‑through
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, reach, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motion
• Ability to work outdoors in environmental, atmospheric, and sometimes hazardous conditions
• Ability to work outside with increased noise levels
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and those associated with construction and development projects
• Positive service‑oriented attitude toward the firm, employees, and clients

• Inspect projects during various construction stages to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations
• Prepare reports by observing and recording on‑site construction activities
• Interpret maps, specifications, plans, diagrams, and contract documents
• Input inspection details into computer systems; prepare daily reports, photo reports, monthly reports, and logs
• Coordinate projects and provide information to contractors, consultants, developers, and staff
• Respond to the public by providing information and resolving complaints efficiently
• Perform and/or record material testing on‑site for compliance and acceptance
• Use standard mechanical and electrical instruments, gauges, and test rigs
• Conduct Best Management Practices (BMP) inspections and ensure contractor maintains BMP documentation and permits
• Review schedules and identify delays or discrepancies
• Perform special projects as assigned

This is a Permanent position based out of Hanapepe, HI.

The pay range for this position is $57200.00 - $88400.00/yr.
