Position Summary

The Specialty Instructor will plan, format and instruct classes. The Instructor will be instructing and evaluating our program to ensure a safe and fun environment for the participants, in addition to other duties and responsibilities assigned at will as seen fit by the Director.

Essential Functions
  • Works with their supervisor to develop and implement age appropriate developmental curriculum; implements age appropriate enrichment activities happen according to the weekly plan
  • Maintain a clean, fun and engaging environment inside the program while on duty
  • Establish positive family communication and teach new skills including building relationships, social skills, independence, and self‑reliance skills
  • Provide an engaging and fun experience
  • Encourage and deliver positive values and build developmental assets
  • Be responsible for the safety of youth and staff while reducing and managing risk
  • Mentor and coach youth and peers; supervise program area; implement program curriculum that supports trying new and diverse activities as well as healthy lifestyle choices
  • Commit to staying current with youth development conversations and models through continued training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Work Environment

The physical demands of the position include:

  • Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents
  • Physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
  • Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 pounds
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years progressive experience in the desired field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Energetic, Driven, Creative
  • Ability to manage various age groups within a class setting
  • Certified in Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid (or certified within 30 days of hire)

Salary Range: $29.00 - $40.00/hour
