Overview
The News Director is responsible for writing and producing, reporting, scheduling and managing local news broadcasts and public affairs programs. The role requires identifying relevant local news, developing news stories and public affairs programs that address local issues, demonstrating excellent writing skills, and establishing good working relationships with local authorities and community leaders.
Additionally, the News Director must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster a harmonious working relationship with the NMB team. Enhanced computer skills and knowledge of digital editing tools are a definite plus and are required for multimedia production, copywriting and information updates used on-air, online and on mobile applications. The News Director should coordinate efforts to ensure the news department has a strong presence in the community.
News writing experience is required and aspiring Multimedia Journalists are encouraged to apply. The candidate should demonstrate quality news writing and on-air delivery, digital and multimedia skills, and an active interest in the local community. Play-by-Play skills are a definite plus with additional compensation opportunity.
