Overview

Are you a compassionate, dependable person who enjoys helping others? Waystone is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home.

Location: Haverhill, MA (Group home setting)

Current Openings

Part Time Schedules 25+ hours per week

  • Tuesday 5:00pm - 11:00pm, Saturday 3:00pm - 11:00pm & Sunday 9:00am - 11:00pm
  • Saturday - Sunday 9:00am - 8:00pm & Tuesday 3:00pm - 8:00pm

Part Time less than 25 hours per week

  • Sunday 9:00am - 11:00pm & Wednesday - Thursday 3:00pm - 8:00pm

Compensation: These are non-exempt full-time/part-time positions. The hourly rate is $21.00. You will be a member of SEIU Local 509.

Group Home Details

As a residential skills instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will assist 4 individuals aged 22 and up with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene assistance, documentation, and medication administration. You will use a wheelchair van to transport individuals to appointments and community activities. Overnight hours include remaining alert, conducting routine wellness checks, and providing personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene assistance (toileting/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Able and willing to assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair accessible company vans. Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation, as required.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain the program’s staff-to-resident ratio, money management, providing home management, and redirecting behaviors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to follow care plans, document services, and communicate with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in providing training, case management and service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification; training offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 6 months of employment.
  • CPR/First Aid; training offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with at least one year of driving experience.
