salary: $32,000 - 34,000 annually, prorated
organizational relationship or line of authority: works under the supervision of the director of special education and the district bcba to implement aba teaching methodology and the building principal for day-to-day operations.
summary: aba technicians are support personnel responsible for implementing applied behavior analysis (aba) methodology and curriculum under the guidance of the school district’s bcba. Aba technicians/rbts use aba teaching to teach academic, communication, and social skills, including implementing plans to reduce problem behaviors. Under the guidance of the bcba, they provide aba interventions that encourage socially acceptable replacement behaviors so students can build and improve their communication, social interactions, and problem‑solving skills.
responsibilities- provide direct support to students in the classroom, supported by the principles of applied behavior analysis (aba) through discrete trial teaching and incidental teaching.
- implement aba curriculum to increase student skills across a variety of domains.
- assist bcbas as directed with implementing behavior support plans and skill acquisition plans.
- collect data on academic, communication, and social skills as well as problem behaviors identified in the behavior support plan (bsp).
- provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students, utilizing safety care techniques as needed.
- collect and record data while implementing aba instruction under measurement.
- describe and record students’ behaviors in measurable terms; assist bcbas with assessment procedures as needed.
- create a skill acquisition plan for students with supervisors and implement procedures to encourage acquisition.
- implement behavior reduction interventions and differential reinforcement procedures; implement behavior support plans when appropriate.
- record session notes while complying with all applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace requirements, including illness and medication notes.
- maintain clear lines of communication and professional boundaries, and implement supervisors’ feedback to improve performance.
- high school diploma.
- associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- at least 1–3 years of experience working with children in aba.
- completion of the 40‑hour rbt training program preferred.
- completion of the rbt competency assessment preferred.
- rbt credential with the bacb preferred.
- citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
