Operations Engineer
About the role
The Vessel planner role is responsible for planning and coordinating daily seeding and harvesting activities across all Sanford mussel farming sites, including Golden Bay, Marlborough and Stewart Island. It ensures vessel schedules align with product demand, resource availability and maintenance requirements, while supporting the digital transformation of harvest planning and reporting systems. Working closely with the Farming, Production, Engineering and Quality teams, the role drives operational efficiency, improves visibility through accurate forecasting and KPI tracking, and supports continuous improvement to ensure reliable, on-time supply to production.
Role Accountabilities- Plan and manage daily seeding and harvesting schedules across all Sanford mussel farming sites
- Develop vessel schedules aligned to product demand, resourcing and maintenance
- Lead daily scheduling discussions and manage plan changes and constraints
- Drive operational efficiency through KPIs, standardised processes and continuous improvement
- Support digital harvest systems, reporting accuracy and forecasting
- Experience in production scheduling or operational planning
- Strong analytical and advanced Excel/system skills
- Ability to translate data into practical operational outcomes
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement capability
- Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in a changing environment
