Senior Combat Systems Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements available.

Salary: Up to £50,000, depending on skills and experience.

• Work with the Combat Systems Engineering Manager to compile evidence demonstrating that design intent has been achieved for a specific platform, ensuring design change is fully integrated.
• Ensure each design‑change safety case has integrity, is comprehensive, coherent, and consistent.
• Apply engineering knowledge to complex engineering change processes in the development of impact assessments and support problem resolution.
• Support collation of evidence for Naval Authority certification submissions.
• Provide technical support to Class Lead Engineers and Platform Engineering Managers for engineering change embodiment.
• Support the development of team members (graduates, apprentices, STEM Returners) to enhance skills and competencies to meet technical capability objectives.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their requirements are supported and incorporated.
• Provide guidance for safe and environmentally friendly conduct of all activities.
• Demonstrate visible commitment to SHE, lead by example and address SHE concerns.

• Experience in in‑service platform combat systems and/or considerable systems background.
• Validated knowledge in assessing and analysing performance of complex combat systems.
• Ability to develop and implement rigorous test and acceptance criteria for system modifications and new equipment.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to present technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior management.
• Experience managing change on complex platforms or systems.
