Do you have experience as an assessor, lecturer or trainer?
Would you enjoy a role where that offers autonomy, variety, work‑life balance and a position where you can mentor apprentices, support their progression, and see the tangible results of your guidance in the workplace?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the South Coast's leading engineering training providers, known for developing apprentices who go on to have long, successful careers in the sector.
Due to continued growth, this company is looking to expand its dedicated team of Learning & Development Coaches. You'll support apprentices throughout their apprenticeship journey, visiting them in the workplace every 6‑8 weeks and working remotely in between visits. You'll liaise with employers to monitor progress, provide guidance, and help apprentices apply what they've learned in the training centre to real‑world engineering tasks.
The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in an engineering discipline and a passion for helping others succeed. Previous assessing or teaching experience is beneficial, but full training will be provided for the right person. This role is perfect for someone looking for a career change from full‑time classroom teaching or traditional assessment work.
This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to transition into a rewarding training and development role, enjoy flexibility, reduce classroom hours, and take ownership of their own caseload while making a real impact on the next generation of engineers.
The Role:- Supporting and assessing engineering apprentices in the workplace
- Planning and reviewing individual learning plans in partnership with learners and employers
- Monitoring progress and providing timely guidance
- Maintaining compliance with apprenticeship standards and documentation
- Liaising with employers and acting as a key point of contact for apprentice development
- Hybrid working with one admin day in Havant and flexible site visits across a manageable geographic area (~30 miles around Portsmouth)
- Strong background in engineering or practical sector experience
- A passion for mentoring, coaching, or teaching
- Able to confidently explain apprenticeships to learners and employers
- Ideally holds, or is willing to work towards, an assessing or teaching qualification
- Minimum Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy
This is a hybird working role, you will need to be happy to commute to Havant at least once a week.
