Business Team Leader – Aerospace & Defense

This role is central to aligning business objectives with operational execution, building strong customer connections, and delivering on complex, high-value programs. The ideal candidate would have had Sr. Program Management responsibilities but also had direct management responsibilities for a team.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead cross-functional business teams, setting clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate with customers, act as their voice (VOB), and ensure seamless communication across programs.
  • Provide strong program direction on priorities, resources, and operational execution.
  • Oversee program performance reporting, proactively addressing risks and recovery plans to meet commitments.
  • Lead negotiations with both military and commercial customers, ensuring compliance with TINA (Truth in Negotiations Act) and ITAR requirements.
  • Drive contract development and management, with a strong base in commercial and government contracting.
  • Partner with Business Development to expand opportunities while growing and coaching future leaders.
  • Connect operations with business goals through a strong operations background and customer-first mindset.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, leveraging an engineering background to support complex aerospace programs.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in program management, operations, or business development within aerospace/defense.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience managing teams and/or multi-disciplinary programs.
  • Strong foundation in manufacturing operations and aerospace industry standards.
  • Solid understanding of contracts, proposals, and compliance requirements (
    TINA
    , ITAR
    ).
  • Military and commercial negotiation experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and coach teams while inspiring collaboration and driving results.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and support technical decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, customer coordination, and presentation skills.
