Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers. A driver operates a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight delivery and/or unloading of food and related products, in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).

Responsibilities

• Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally; answer questions accurately and timely.
• Work as a team member and perform duties to best serve the company.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations; ensure safety standards are met and address issues as needed.
• Report safety issues and repairs required.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safety driving guidelines and policies.
• Immediately report safety hazards; inspect trailer for proper load and security of freight.
• Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and legibly associated with freight.
• Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route delivery schedule.
• Unload products from the trailer and transport to designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and notify supervisor about removals per policy.
• Verify delivery with customer and obtain proper signatures.
• Collect money (cash or checks) where required. Load customer returns onto trailer and secure doors.
• Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are secured when not in use.
• Unload damaged goods and returns and complete required paperwork; unload equipment and remove trash as needed.
• Complete daily hours-of-service logs in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping in tractor and loading dock area; keep trailers clean.
• At end of shift, secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• 12 months commercial driving experience
• High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
• Valid CDL A
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Must be 21 years of age
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure a new DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight; typical weight ranges apply (10-35 lb single items, up to 60-90 lb depending on location)
