Packaging Line Leader

The Packaging Line Leader is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of assigned packaging lines. Reporting to a shift-level production leader, this role ensures consistent performance through strong standards, data-driven decision making, and effective team collaboration.

The role focuses on driving line performance, embedding best-practice ways of working, and leading continuous improvement activities. The Packaging Line Leader plays a key role in problem solving, performance management, and supporting the development of operators within the packaging area.

• Own day-to-day performance of assigned packaging lines, acting as the first point of contact for operational issues.
• Monitor and analyse line performance against KPIs and leading/lagging indicators, driving actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
• Lead performance review discussions with production teams and support functions, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely issue resolution.
• Develop, maintain, and improve documented standards (e.g. SOPs, work instructions, training materials) and ensure consistent adherence.
• Lead structured problem-solving activities for both reactive issues and continuous improvement, including investigation and documentation of events.
• Support shift leadership by providing feedback on operator performance and contributing to coaching, reviews, and development planning.
• Work across shifts to ensure consistent communication, aligned ways of working, and reduced waste and variation.
• Act as a production subject matter expert for improvement initiatives, deputise for shift leadership when required, and operate the line as needed.
