Production Maintenance Shift Engineer – Hatfield
£46k plus £3,600 on call allowance.
We’re looking for an experienced Shift Engineer to join a well-established maintenance team based at our Hatfield head office. This role sits within the MHE department and focuses on keeping equipment running safely, reliably, and to a high standard. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and servicing a range of material handling systems, responding to breakdowns, and carrying out planned maintenance. The role is fully onsite, five days a week, working a rotating shift pattern.

06:00 – 14:00
14:00 – 22:00
- Carry out electrical maintenance on material handling equipment
- Fault find and test PLC and three-phase systems
- Respond to machine faults and complete planned maintenance tasks
- Provide emergency response for essential equipment breakdowns
- Maintain machinery and equipment to agreed standards
- Identify and rectify defects in a timely manner
- Support facilities activities when required
- Complete time sheets, task documentation, and manage stock control
- Order consumables and handle related administrative tasks
- Qualified, time-served technician with a strong electrical background
- Proven experience fault finding in a fast-paced production or operational environment
- Previous PLC experience is beneficial
- Experience maintaining automated material handling equipment or similar systems
- Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a team
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Able to work at heights
- Strong practical understanding of health and safety requirements
- Health & Safety qualification or training in high-bay racking access equipment and controlled descent rescue procedures
- City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering
- Basic mechanical skills
- Working knowledge of automated material handling equipment
