Position: Non-Instructional Assistant
Department: Assigned Building
Reports to: Assigned Building Principal
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) – Educational Support Professional Association
Schedule: Part-time, 10 Months
Starting Rate of Pay: $16.75/hour, 10:30 am to 2:00 pm daily.

Summary
Responsible for student supervision in the hallways, cafeteria and during recess.
Responsibilities- Supervises students at recess, during lunchtime, and in hallways.
- Maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
- Directs movement of groups in a safe and organized manner to and from the Recess in addition to monitoring students in hallways.
- Assists students in cafeteria clean-up.
- Participates in in-service training as directed.
- Demonstrates understanding of students’ needs.
- Demonstrates initiative and creativity with students.

- High School diploma; preference given to those having a minimum of two years college.
- Previous experience with children, especially at-risk students or students with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, students, parents and/or administrators.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to operate office equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work both inside as well as outside for recess periods. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee must work with parents, staff, students and administrators continuously meeting multiple demands from several people. The employee is continuously responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
- Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.
